“Hello. We are the Keepers of Light. We’d like to talk a little about the Bible today. So many cling onto this text that they believe is so ancient and full of truth. We wish that were so.
The Bible is a text that started out pretty full of (but not entirely full of) truth, but as it was translated and rewritten over and over again, things got left out - many times intentionally - by the rulers of the day. Why? Because it served them to remove the truth or to deeply obscure it. You see, governing people who are afraid of a vengeful God is much easier and lucrative than governing people who are empowered and aware of their ability to create their own world/reality.
This doesn’t imply that Jesus wasn’t real or that certain events referenced didn’t happen. Jesus was – and still is – very real; but he taught Love. He taught that he was your brother - not someone elevated above your reach - he was and is just the same as YOU. He was a rebel of the system of his day and taught the truth: that he - and we – are all powerful creators made in the image of God/ The Creator/ use what your preferred term is. Jesus did not write a book. He wasn’t trying to write a book. He was simply teaching Love and was being ostracized by the powers that be at the time. This led him to teach in secret at people‘s homes and later in big crowds which got him noticed and earmarked for a public example of death.
Of course this is especially relevant in this particular time of year because of your Easter celebration and so we put this here: Jesus did not “die for your sins“ - he chose the crucifixion that he knew was coming to use as a teaching/learning device for his students, showing them that he could transcend his body and overcome death. Jesus could have avoided death easily – but he knew death isn’t real and the crucifixion allowed him an opportunity to teach that lesson fully.
The overlay and repetition of the stories implying guilt here were the farces put into the Bible to keep you feeling small and powerless. Though the church doesn’t hold the same amount of power as it used to, and whether or not you attend services regularly or at all, it is still a conditioned belief in your mind.
God is all loving - how does it make logical sense that he’d punish his “one” son for “sins” that, according to the Bible, weren’t even his own and then further cause you to suffer for them? The simple answer is the truth: it doesn’t make sense. God is Love. Jesus demonstrated and taught just that. Those who cling to the red text in the Bible as the “word of God“ must examine how they feel when they read it: does it feel loving or fear-inducing and shaming? If it makes you feel anything less than peaceful and loved, then it must be questioned - otherwise you will suffer – but that suffering doesn’t come from “punishment”, it’s the result of your Free Will choice to do so.
This will sound blasphemous to many who are unfamiliar with these truths, but that’s okay. For others who are ready to explore further, these words will resonate with a truth held deep within that you’ve always known. Let them urge you to explore further.
We thank you for your attention today, we love you, and we will speak to you again soon.”
